Smoke Alarm Operation
We’ve equipped the PX-1+ Smoke and Heat Alarm with an additional sensor for humidity. The smoke alarm measures the relative humidity and air temperature within its observation radius every five hours, or 1,752 times per year. Provided that one of three climate security levels is met during such a measurement (e.g. C1 = > 70% re. hum. with < 22°C) data storage takes place.
The PX-1+ memory is read during the smoke alarm’s yearly maintenance. The data regarding how often one of the three climate security levels was measured is then matched in our SSL-secure client portal with the respective housing unit. Based on scientifically evaluated correlation gradients, each housing unit is given an easy to understand number in the form of a percentage: an analytically determined indicator value of the probability for mold growth (e.g. 62%).
In so doing, our clients can see clearly whether he or she is under threat of a costly mold clean-up.
Apartments that are in particular danger of mold growth due to a continuous unfavorable indoor climate are filtered by our IT system and ordered by degree of severity, selected and separately listed in our client portal. This way the responsible employee for our customer has the housing units that are in threat of a complicated and cost-intensive mold clean-up right in front of them and can respond in a timely manner or take appropriate preventative measures (consultation with the renter on heating and ventilation methods) in order to avert such damage. As a result, the vexing lack of evidence that landlords face in legal disputes, due to the careful guarding of renters' data privacy and personal rights, is also no longer a given.
In rooms that are particularly at-risk, the PX-1+ smoke alarm can be set to make a short warning tone after a predefined number of negative measurements, in order to alert the renter to optimize his or her heating and ventilation settings. This minimally invasive warning signal can be temporarily deactivated and only becomes active again if there is no improvement in the new data within the next days.
In addition to a particularly reliable smoke alarm, with the PX-1+ the renter also has a neutral, interactive climate monitor at home that warms him or her of harmful indoor climate issues and in the process supports the renter in avoiding health risks from mold spores.
